Pets & Guards

Pets
Given our pet quality male wethers (castrated) are all quiet and halter trained when offered for sale they tend to be sold fairly quickly so don't delay in putting your order in.  Most are sold prior to being put up on the website.    We will not sell "single" pets as they require at least one other alpaca companion.   Whilst alpacas make great pets, they still need to be treated as livestock (not like a dog) and require at least 2-3 acres, split into a number of paddocks for rotation to maximise your pasture utilisation.

We show all new owners how to handle their alpacas and all aspects of animal husbandry.

MillDuck Accomplice:   SOLD
This is another boy who just loves people.  He insists on a cuddle, gives lovely kisses and is a real "chatter-box".  He will be available in early 2024 once he has been castrated.
MillDuck Alfie:  SOLD
Alfie is a very pretty young boy with a real "smoochy" face.  He is also friendly and loves a pat.  His fleece is a lovely colour - would make a very attractive jumper if you are into spinning and knitting.  He has grown up with Accomplice (& baby sat by Zelenskyy) - so would make an ideal partner to Accomplice and or Zelenskyy.  Alfie will be castrated at the same time as Accomplice in early 2024.

Guards
Alpacas can make excellent guards protecting lambs, goat kids and the like from predators such as foxes.  Whilst some will say you only need one alpaca - we will only sell guards in pairs as they need the company of their own species.  There is also sufficient evidence to say two alpacas will work in tandem protecting different young livestock or different areas of the paddock.
