We are very serious about our breeding program at MillDuck.

Whilst we have a clear vision of the type of animal and style of fleece we want to breed  – it is always good to test, through showing, how our breeding program measures up against other Alpaca Studs and the industry overall.

We are encouraged by our consistent performance in fawn through to black classes under different judges.

Given our focus on breeding “quality coloured alpacas”, we are proud of our numerous "Best Medium-Dark Fawn", “Best Brown” and “Best Black” awards.

Winning “Supreme Light Fawn”, “Supreme Medium-Dark Fawn”, “Supreme Brown” and “Supreme Black”   at Colourbration Shows have been special moments - as has winning and consistently being placed in the top ten, of the Victorian Central Region’s “Alpaca of the Year” Award.

We love the fact that our coloured animals are winning Age Championships, even Supreme Champion Alpaca – proving our colours are as good and sometimes better, than the whites.

2010 Show Season Highlights include:

  • MillDuck Jarrah winning Sire’s Progeny at Sydney Royal Easter Show (3 dark fawn progeny)
  • Winning Supreme Med-Dark Fawn (MillDuck Manhattan), Supreme Brown  (MillDuck Maddox) & Supreme Black (MillDuck Mandela) at Colour Classic Show
  • MillDuck Mandela winning Premier Black & MillDuck Maddox winning Premier Brown at AlpacaFest.
  • MillDuck Manhattan (dark fawn) winning Supreme Champion Alpaca at Ballarat Sheep & Alpaca Show
  • MillDuck Maddox (brown) awarded Reserve Champion Intermediate Male at the AAA National Show in Tamworth.
  • MillDuck Jarrah – 2nd in Sire’s Progeny at the AAA National Show with three brown progeny
  • MillDuck Jitterbug – 3rd in Dam’s Progeny at the AAA National Show with two dark fawn progeny

However, the sweetest moment was MillDuck Manhattan being awarded Champion Adult Male at the AAA Nationals – beating some of the biggest white studs in Australia.

We don’t mean to skite, but we are happy with how others judge our breeding program.
