About Us

MillDuck Alpaca Stud, situated on 35 acres, is located in the hills at Harcourt North, near Bendigo, Victoria - 90 minutes from Melbourne.

Prue Walduck and Ada Milley, owners and principals of MillDuck Alpaca Stud, purchased their first alpacas in 1993.

Prue can still remember the day when she saw alpacas at the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo - "two months later we were the proud owners of two pregnant girls."

"Tuppsidah" and "Rachel" were aggisted as Ada and Prue were living in Melbourne pursuing their chosen professions - Ada in Teaching and Prue in Human Resource Management.

Weekends for the next two years were spent establishing "MillDuck" in preparation for the "sea change". With a background in farming, Prue was keen to return to "nature", Ada wanted to reconnect with her country roots.

Since moving to MillDuck, Ada has been the principle driver behind the creation of MillDuck StrawBale Bed & Breakfast, whilst Prue's passion has remained with the alpacas.

This passion has seen Prue play an active role in the Australian Alpaca Association (AAA) Regional activities where she has held the roles of Secretary and Regional Marketing Representative, plus spent three years on the AAA National Marketing Committee.

From small beginnings MillDuck Alpaca Stud now runs approximately 35-40 quality huacaya alpacas and is a consistent ribbon winner at Regional and National Shows.
